Interactive Designer
Description
Milkshake has an immediate opening for an Interactive Designer. With supervision, the Interactive Designer creates innovative user interfaces and design solutions that meet a stated strategy or direction. The ideal candidate has exceptional skills in visual design, a sound understanding of how information architecture and interaction design inform the visual design process, and a working knowledge of how design decisions translate to the web. We are looking for a forward-thinking individual who enjoys pushing the boundaries of their abilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create visual designs that effectively communicate and help solve the clients’ needs.
- An ability to incorporate brand identity, design, layouts, color palettes, typography, and icons into user interface design.
- Produce design specifications, storyboards, scenarios and other prototypes.
- Maintain at least a basic knowledge of HTML and Flash as well as a solid understanding of technical constraints of technology as related to design.
- Articulate and present concepts and designs internally
- Participate in brainstorm sessions for new clients and projects
- Maintains an understanding of print production
- Managing time and tasks to ensure timely completion and delivery of project responsibilities
- Continually update design and technical skills. Keep abreast of industry news and trends.
Internal Relationships:
- Works closely with Technology Director, Creative Director, Senior Art Directors, Art Directors, Account Supervisors, and Studio Manager.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Willingness to learn and keep design skills up to date.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work with all people/departments within the company.
- Ability to deliver high quality design under tight deadlines
- Good communication skills necessary.
- Take initiative to follow up, keep coworkers advised of status of projects. The ability to work independently and roll up your sleeves is critical.
- Ability to prioritize projects, with quick turn-around on the most urgent.
- Willingness to assist on any/all projects as needed
Experience/Education/Licenses and Certifications Necessary:
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a related discipline preferred
- 3-5 years experience within a creative team within a design shop, advertising or interactive agency.
- Understanding of the creative process (sketching, storyboarding, brainstorming)
- Must understand user behavior and how it relates to interface design.
- Solid understanding and foundation of design, color, and typography, especially as related to new media design (interaction design, information design, interface design) required.
- Excellent technical skills with Adobe CS including Flash.
- Experience designing with motion graphics tools (After Effects, Combustion, Maya) a plus
